Who coordinates training, purchases equipment and makes decisions regarding employee entry of a confined space at your company? Having a designated program manager will help to ensure consistent skills of your entry team, increase readiness and efficiency for a permit space entry and ensure compliance with OSHA requirements. Employers are also required to have a written confined space safety program if workers are entering a confined space.
To help employers better manage their confined space program, Safex developed an 8-hour workshop specifically for program managers. It covers everything the program manager needs to keep the company OSHA compliant and prepare workers for a safe confined space entry. We’ll focus on the key aspects of developing a written program, planning and resourcing rescue equipment, determining training requirements for entrants, attendants and entry supervisors. We’ll also review steps, methods and common tools to perform and document an annual audit of your confined space safety program.
At the completion of training, participants will:
- Draft, or review your current written Confined Space safety policy. All that’s left is for management review and authorize the policy.
- Be able to identify rescue equipment necessary to support the confined space entry team when they are required to work in a permit required confined space at the facility.
- Be able to select air monitoring equipment for purchase or rent to assess common air quality hazards for each confined space at their facility.
- Determine mechanical ventilation capabilities and air changes per hour for typical confined space.
- Perform an annual audit of the confined space entry program.
