Honest, outgoing and meticulous is how you might describe our newest industrial hygiene consultant, Marissa Lange. She’s everything we’ve been looking for to round out our team.
Marissa brings several years of industrial hygiene and safety experience to Safex. She launched her career in EHS during her senior year at The University of Toledo (UT). During an internship at an auto manufacturer, her colleague resigned, and she found herself with the opportunity work full time while completing her undergraduate course work. She continued to work there as a Health, Safety and Environmental Specialist for three years while also earning a Master of Science in Occupational Health Industrial Hygiene from UT. From there, Marissa joined Marathon Petroleum as a HES Professional/ Industrial Hygienist where she conducted field work, including exposure assessments, industrial hygiene monitoring, indoor air quality investigations and recommended corrective action to minimize exposure risk.
“I’m so grateful for an education that led me to the field of industrial hygiene. Workers have the potential to be exposed to many hazards and I love being able to help them stay safe,” she shares.
At Safex, Marissa will conduct industrial hygiene monitoring, indoor air quality assessments, respirator fit testing and will be an instructor for our Fundamentals of Industrial Hygiene class. She is a member of AIHA and plans to sit for the Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) exam this fall.
Marissa is a native of Bedford, Michigan, which is near Toledo. She stays busy outside of work by reading, fishing, cooking and traveling to her favorite spot in Florida—Key Largo.
