Private Training
Our team of professional trainers regularly teaches private compliance courses and safety, environmental and industrial hygiene workshops. If you have a need, we’ll create custom content to make sure your employees receive exactly what you asked for and more. All courses are developed using the recommendations of ANSI Z490.1-2009 “Criteria for Accepted Practices in Safety, Health and Environmental Training.”
Private training offered at our office or yours!
Topics include:
Bloodborne Pathogens
We teach workshops and refreshers for those who have the potential to be exposed to bloodborne pathogens. Our training satisfies the training standard for OSHA’s bloodborne pathogen regulation. (There’s an annual training requirement for employees with regular exposure to blood or other potentially infection materials.) We’ll cover methods for recognizing tasks with potential exposure, preventing exposure, work practices and personal protective equipment, transmission of and symptoms of bloodborne diseases and post exposure protocol.
DOT Requirements for Shipping Hazardous Materials
If your company ships or receives hazardous materials or waste, this class will get your team compliant. We’ll explain hazardous materials handlers rules as detailed in Department of Transportation 49 CFR Part 172 Subpart H and cover specific situations that workers in your facility face. Our training includes hands on exercises to keep the group engaged and ready to comply. (Required in the first 90 days of employment and every three years.)
Hazard Communication
Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER)

OSHA 10 and 30-hour for General Industry
Personal Protective Equipment
Let’s have some fun talking about the gear that protects us. Through hands on demonstrations, group work and lecture, we’ll teach your team how to identify hazards related to specific tasks, select the appropriate fall protection method, install/don and inspect fall arrest equipment and other critical topics to keep workers safe. We’ve even been known to throw in some contests!
The Art of Industrial Hygiene
Once you’ve conquered Principles Applications of Industrial Hygiene, it’s time to advance to The Art of Industrial Hygiene. This intermediate three-day course provides more extensive training including aspects of industrial hygiene chemical monitoring through group exercises and discussion.

Fall Protection
Fall protection violations are at the top of OSHA’s most cited list each year. Our fall protection classes cover how to identify and select appropriate fall protection, install fall protection equipment, guarding lines requirements, recognizing site hazards and more.
Additionally, we offer fall protection/walking-working surfaces training for those in general industry. These courses cover the administrative changes in 29 CFR 1910 Subpart D, defined distances from a leading edge, selecting fall protection and restraints, etc.
Hazardous Waste Management (RCRA)
Large and small hazardous waste generators will benefit from our training. Safex’s experienced instructors will cover topics like how to avoid costly fines, waste minimization techniques, how to conduct an on-site inspection and more. Our training meets the requirements of Chapter 3745 of the Ohio Administrative Code.
Incident Investigation and Root Cause
Lead and Asbestos Awareness
Asbestos and lead can be serious occupational health hazards if not handled properly. That’s why OSHA requires awareness training if lead or asbestos affect your work site.
Ensure your workers know how to safety work around asbestos and lead with our private training. We’ll explain their health effects, train staff on the locations of lead and asbestos-containing materials (ACM) and presumed ACM (PACM) at work sites, how to recognize ACM and PACM damage and deterioration, housekeeping procedures and proper response tactics if suspect materials are encountered.
Because it’s a fully customized course, we can cover lead or asbestos or both.
OSHA 10 and 30-hour for Construction
Most general contractors now require their sub-contractors to have OSHA 10 or 30 hour cards to be onsite.
OSHA Inspections
If OSHA came knocking, would you be prepared? Let our former OSHA inspector get you ready. We’ll cover best practices for building rapport with inspectors, how to identify and correct common OSHA-cited hazards, how to respond to citations and finalize a response plan. Plus, we’ll put your knowledge to the test by conducting a mock audit with your staff. With this class under your belt, you’ll smile next time OSHA arrives.
Principle Applications of Industrial Hygiene
It’s also a great learning opportunity for team members who have newly acquired industrial hygiene responsibilities.
“The class was very well conducted using pertinent material with associate interaction. We received excellent feedback about the class handouts and the Safex instructor.”
